The 25-time Grand Slam winner announced her pregnancy earlier this year in April. She will be turning 36 later this month.
No immediate confirmation has yet arrived from the representative of Serena Williams. The announcement came from Twitter account of United States Open’s and her coach too.
US Open Tennis tweeted, “Congratulations to @serenawilliams for giving birth to a baby girl!”
A source said the newborn weighed six pounds and 13 ounces.
Serena Williams’ elder sister Venus Williams said she is super-excited after getting the good news of her sister.
Serena Williams is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
Meanwhile, fans and well-wishers have started congratulating the couple. One of her fans tweeted, “Hello to the future queen of tennis… A future champion is born.”
The last time she won the Australian Open title was when she was newly pregnant. She had earlier said to be returning to tennis again in January 2018 to defend her title.
In an interview to Vogue magazine the tennis star said her goal is set to return in Melbourne at next year’s Open.
Serena said, “It’s the most outrageous plan… I just want to put that out there… three months after I give birth.”
