A suspicious package in the lobby forced evacuation of Trump Tower in New York City on Tuesday shortly after 5 p.m. local time.
According to authorities, the suspicious package was nothing but a bag containing toys of children.
President-elect Donald Trump was not either in the building or in New York during the evacuation. He is currently in Florida.
Immediately after receiving a call of suspicious package the NYPD Bomb Squad responded, tweeted NYPD Assistant Commissioner for Communication & Public Information J. Peter Donald.
Trump Tower is located in Midtown Manhattan on the 5th Avenue between streets 56 and 57. It is a 5-story skyscraper and is presently being used as the headquarters for the Trump Organization.
Since the November presidency election victory of Donald Trump, the building has been used as the primary site of his presidential transition.
Trump Tower also houses the primary residence of the president-elect.
Traffic was halted near to the building Tuesday afternoon. Madison Avenue was closed between 55th and 5th street following the evacuation and while the NYPD bomb squad was responding to the situation out of an abundance of caution.
Donald Trump will be taking presidential oath on January 20, 2017.
